• Nothing finer than a Knitcircus and a Sow’s Ears

It was time to head home, but I still had a few tricks up my sleeve…

I had been lucky to work several times with the amazing Jaala Spiro of Knitcircus fame. Well she is from Wisconsin – we had made planes to meet up and I did not want to miss this.

Monday afternoon I was all laundered, packed and loaded- I headed toward the Capital of Wisconsin.

What looks like a mild manner house on a rather average street from the out side, contains a riot of color, a clamor of kids and one Amazing Lady –

    Knitcircus Yarns Drying

With a big fiber show approaching (Yarn Over in Minnesota) I got to help skein up some of Knitcircus’ lovely yarns. She showed me how she makes these amazing colors and then pricked my finger, took a lock of my hair and swore me to secrecy . . . but you can find all her lovely yarns on Etsy (although she did hint to selling direct on her website soon) and her beautiful patterns are also on Ravelry –

After collecting the drying yarn from outside and effortlessly performing a few domestic duties- we headed out to the Sow’s Ear – in Verona.

    What and Adorable Shop!!

Kind, friendly, well light, cozy yet not claustrophobic, with a large selection of yarns, java and food. I got to spend the night eating good food, looking at beautiful yarn and talking with Jaala about the marvelous world of knitting. Oh how heavenly-

I also got the meet the Wonderful Amy Detjen- She was teaching a class and took the above photo. ( I am taking her Craftsy class Custom yoke Sweater- )

I left the Sow’s Ear very happy and looking forward to returning. I recommend this shop to any one in the area or passing thru.
