Last weekend I packed my knitting into my car and headed west to the Pittsburgh Knit & Crochet Festival, which is actually held in Mars, Pennsylvania. I was excited to be teaching 3 classes and catching up with old friends.
Teaching is always fun and my classes always end up laughing- usually at me. I love to see the light go on as knitters learn and grow. I taught my Gauge class enjoying the student’s amazement at everyone’s different gauge and my Don’t Rip It – Fix It class, it is always fun to see knitters fix stitches, cables and lace without having to rip all the back. I love the apprehension of new knitter when they let a stitch loose and then learn it is not the end of the world. We even had enough time for me to show them how to cut a cable to change its twist. The shrieks as I cut it were so cute.
I also taught my Design Your Own Basic Sweater Class. This call is a lot of info in a small amount of time which always ends up in glazed eyes, yet ever one leaves the room saying how wonderful it was. I guess I have to work on the presentation a bit and perhaps make it longer.
I enhanced my stash a bit and fount some other delights in the market place. The Bourbon Cherry Jam is amazing on chocolate cup cakes!! (Thanks Jennifer for the cupcake!)
I got to see Jill Bigelow Suttell from A B-ewe-tiful Design she was teaching and had a booth selling her great designs.
My friend Cynthia who is co- owner of a darling knitting and quilting shop with the delightful name of Stitch Your Art Out in State College PA had an incredible booth of beautiful yarns.
This was Holiday Yarns first year at the Pittsburgh show and rumor has it they will be back next year. WOOOHOO!!! There is always a good laugh and beautiful yarns in Jennifer’s booth.
