    The loot

The Nice people at Vogue Knitting Live gave me a copy of Cathy Carron’s new book Short Stories. It is filled with stylish short knits great for layering.  I will have to sit down some day soon and do a review of it. (1/29/13- HA!- I just got it Short Stories… like a book of short stories… ha ha ha!!)

I purchased the Ultimate Hat Book –History, Technique, Design from the editors of Vogue Knitting Magazine. I love knitting hats and this book is a compilation of 50 hats patterns published in Vogue Knitting Magazine through the years. A great stash buster kinda book.

The market place was dim- very dim, almost high school dance dim. I could not imagine buying a whole bunch of yarn for a large project. But a few balls of yarn here and there… I can always use.

The first place I stopped to purchase yarn was Knit Whits booth after my Brioche class on Saturday. One of the yarns Nancy suggested was Freia for it’s great texture and colors – I saw half the class at the Knit Wits booth when I walked in.

I picked some cakes to use with yarn I already have (the mulit colored yarns pic’d above is my onw hand dye, the solid or gradient yarns are Freia) – so I can practice my brioche knitting.

I am not just a knitter but also a collector of knitting things. I found this cute leather wrap bracelet and stitch markers by Heidi and Lana They have a shop on Etsy – so you can find her great stitch markers there.

She hand stamps the pendants; they are aluminum so the bracelet is light and not noisy.

When I took one last spin around the market when I came across the delightful Jill Draper of Jill Draper Makes Stuff in her booth

    Jill Draper

Jill has a new sumptuous yarn Mohonk. It is 100% New York State Cormo Wool. I cannot wait to get this on my needles and play with it. Jill says the secret is the happy sheep, I think she is right.

Mohonk - Jill Drapper Makes Stuff This yarn has a great cushy feel in sophisticated tonal colors is a hearty earth scent.   There are a couple sweater designs right here waiting for me.

That is it for loot. I was pretty good, I guess cuz it was so dark.

If after my last post about all the great classes – you are interested in taking a class with Nancy Marchant or Fiona Ellis but are unable to make it to one of their classes They have classes you can take on Craftsy.

Creative Cabled Necklines with Fiona is free and soon she will have a Mastering Cable Design.

Nancy Marchant has a Craftsy class called Explorations in Brioche Knitting.  With Craftsy you can learn from top teachers right in your own home. Check them out.

Well off to wind some yarn and practise my Brioche knitting.

    Blissful Knitting,
