My designing shortly after I went to my first Local Shop. It began to grow after going to my first knitting convention. I went to a TKGA event in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. There I meet the 2 wonderful ladies Decadent Fibers, Pat and Chris.
They had this magical little Yarn Hut in the corner of the show floor. I was in love with all their beautiful colors and big lovely hanks of yarn. A friend mentioned that I was a designer and I was sent home with yarn and my first real designing was starting. I cannot remember how many weeks it took, but by my first Stitches event, that same year, I had 2 designs for them in a whole bunch of sizes.
The Woven Cardigan and Chex Sweater.
I have designed several things for Decadent Fibers over the years and they have always encouraged and supported me in my design career, I will always feel a sense of loyalty to them for having the guts to believe in me, more than I believed in myself.
This year starting out on my own- again…. I pulled out the 2 skeins of Decadent Fibers yarn that I had bought in the magic yarn hut where I first meet them, and planned to work up a new designs for Stitches East- Well, I bit off more than I could chew. With the new Web Site, releasing 2 or more designs a month, getting ready for the Knitting Retreat… I did not have a full grasp of what I wanted and since the move; my knitter and I are over 100 miles apart.
So really wanting to have something for them and to be able to hang out in their booth and hold my head high, I worked up my new Meddybemps design in a prized skein of their Cookie Dough yarn. It is lovely.
I have switched up the pattern to include their yarns and shot some more photos
This Saturday, October 13th
I will be in the Decadent Fibers booth (#727 & 826) at Stitches East from 1 to 3. My Meddybemps pattern will be FREE with purchase of their lovely yarns.
Please swing by and say Hi. Who knows what else I will have in my Top Hat.
