Next weekend (the 28th thru the 30th) I am headed to camp…
I am packing up my knitting, sleeping bag, pillow and hopefully some hand knit sweaters, and heading out to the Poconos for the Kraemer Yarns Knitting Retreat.
This is the 4th year I have been enjoying this wonderful weekend and it turns out to be their biggest one yet, 62 happy campers total. I not only get to attend but I will be teaching 3 classes and I get to help plan the weekend. I am in charge of games, kinda like Julie on the Love Boat.
We arrive Friday evening. There are two classes held on Saturday and one on Sunday with time for some boating, and hiking in-between . The highlight for me Saturday night is the great fire outside with marshmallow roasting. Although after winning last years speed knitting contest, it now ranks a close second. After the last class on Sunday morning, we get one last meal then say our good-byes until next year.
The three classes I am teaching this year are in order; Hand Dyeing, one of my favorites, so much fun to teach to do. Color Theory and How to apply it to your knitting, I love this class, we learn how to use a color wheel and what color flatter us where. Crafty Cast Ons, this one is new for me and I am eager to see how it goes.
My very good friends Clara & Eleanor also teach and share in the hosting duties. Although it has to be noted that Clara, is the master planner and heart and soul of this retreat, without her hard work and dedication, this retreat would never happen.
Due to the large size this year, we have two new teachers joining us for a few classes to help keep class sizes manageable. I am really looking forward to working with Charlene, who has attended several camps in the past, and Mary Ann, who is new to camp this year.
Time for me to get back to class handout for my Crafty Cast On Class.
